Leading Figures

In its history, over 100 outstanding individuals were at the head of Deutsche Bank and the bank it merged with in 1929, Disconto-Gesellschaft. Some of them came from families of the financial elite; others had worked their way up from modest circumstances to the highest positions in the bank. Many of them spent their entire working life - which could be up to 60 years - at the bank; for others it was just a step along the way, for example, to a position in government. Most of them had a traditional banking career behind them, but there were many who came from other fields.
